Barton Peveril Student on Course for Paramedic Science

Barton Peveril Sixth Form College (@bartonpevril) student Emily Cleightonhills has been offered a place to study Paramedic Science at St. George’s, University of London.

The Paramedic Science course is a highly sought-after and selective degree programme, which leads directly into the Paramedic profession upon completion.

Cleightonhills studies Vocational Level 3 qualifications in Health and Social Care (Extended Diploma) and Science (Applied) (Extended Certificate) at the Hampshire-based College.

St. George’s, University of London is based on the same site as its St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, the location of the most recent series of Channel 4’s hit documentary 24 Hours in A&E. Students studying on courses like Paramedic Science at the University are given the opportunity to experience their profession first hand, in the University Hospital.

Cleightonhills received her offer during a very turbulent period for University admissions, which prevented interviews taking place as normal. Cleightonhills interviewed online for her place on the course, recording answers to eight questions in a fixed period of time in place of a typical interview.

Hard work has paid off

The Barton Peveril student has had ambitions to become a Paramedic for as long as she can remember, after her experiences of the positive impact Paramedics have on an individual’s lives on a daily basis. 

Speaking on her potential future pathway and her success in receiving an offer, Emily Cleightonhills said:

“I was very surprised to be accepted onto the course but so grateful that all my hard work has paid off and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to study at St. Georges University of London.”
