Two Barton Peveril Sixth Form College (@bartonpevril) students have signed for Chelsea Football Club Women. Kelci Bowers and Grace Palmer, who both joined the club after previously playing for Southampton Football Club Women,  will now represent the FA Women’s Super League club at Under 18 level.

Palmer, who previously attended Crestwood Community School, joins Chelsea F.C. Women after a successful 2019/20 season that saw her selected for the England Women Under 17 football team. The central midfielder played her first international game against Switzerland in 2019 and has since represented her country on multiple occasions, playing in matches against Denmark, Spain, and the United States of America.

Bowers, who was formerly a student at Meoncross School, joins the Chelsea squad after her success as a central defender at Southampton F.C. Women; Bowers has already had the opportunity to represent Chelsea in Under 21 – Under 23 matches against Arsenal F.C., Ipswich F.C., Tottenham Hotspur F.C., Aston Villa F.C. and Manchester United F.C.

Both players now look to continue their football careers at Chelsea F.C. Women, with the hope that they can develop their current junior contracts into professional careers once they complete their studies at Barton Peveril.

Speaking on her new contract with the London-based club, Kelci Bowers said:

“I’m so happy to have started a new journey at Chelsea, where I will be challenged weekly and pushed to be the best player I can be.”

Barton Peveril Director of Sport, Luke Hampton, commented on the students’ success:

“Well done to Kelci and Grace on another brilliant achievement in their footballing careers. They’ve both had such a promising start to their time at College and we cannot wait to see how far they continue to progress in their pursuits at College and with Chelsea.”
