Barnsley Sixth Form College celebrates 99% A Level pass rate
Barnsley Sixth Form College is celebrating another excellent set of A Level results with a 99% overall pass rate and a 100% pass rate in 20 subjects, including French, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Politics and creative arts subjects.
The number of students achieving three or more A* – B grades has increased by 4.6%. Over 50% of students studying subjects including Art and Design, Biology, Computer Science, Film Studies, Further Mathematics, History, Physical Education and Physics achieved an A* – B grade.
Many of our students are now looking forward to starting Higher Education courses at universities throughout the country, including Birmingham, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, and Sheffield.
Outstanding individual successes include former Horizon Community College pupils, Eleanor Hadfield and Amy Richardson and Holy Trinity pupil, Evan Hardy.
Eleanor, 18, achieved two A*s in Film Studies and History and two As in Drama and Theatre Studies and Psychology, and is going to Aberystwyth University to study Scenography and Theatre Design/Drama and Theatre Studies. Amy, 18, achieved an A* in Mathematics and three As in Biology, Chemistry and Further Mathematics and is going to Kings College London to study Mathematics.
Evan, 18, achieved an A* in Biology and two As in Chemistry and Mathematics and is going to the University of Birmingham to study Medicine.

“We are thrilled to be announcing another fantastic set of results and would like to congratulate our students on their achievements and wish them luck in their next steps.
“This is our first set of results where all of our subjects have been taught using linear assessment. We are delighted that our pass rate has increased from last year.
“Our students have worked consistently hard to meet the demands of the A Level qualifications and they have shown a sustained commitment to their studies over the last two years. The dedication and resilience demonstrated by our students and staff is evident in this year’s results.
“At Barnsley Sixth Form College, our staff and students have a culture of high aspirations and I’m pleased to see so many students are progressing onto Higher Education, apprenticeships or employment. I would like to wish them all the best of luck with their future careers.”
