Barnsley College’s Sports Academy teams up with Stocksbridge Park Steels FC
Barnsley College’s Sports Academy has formed a partnership with Stocksbridge Park Steels Football Club to give talented football players opportunities at both clubs.
The new agreement could open doors for College students who are looking to get a foothold in football. Students from the academy will have the opportunity to play showcase games, enjoy a match day experience and coaching sessions from first team staff at Stocksbridge Park Steels.
Students will also have the chance to gain relevant experience in match analysis, sports therapy, strength and conditioning, coaching, sports journalism and media opportunities with the highest ranked non-league club in the locality.
Chris Hilton, First Team Manager at Stocksbridge Park Steels FC, said:
“We are really pleased to partner with Barnsley College. The partnership will allow us to scout possible players but also to access students who would like to gain relevant experience in the field, enabling us to offer more. The partnership is mutually beneficial to both parties and we are excited and look forward to working together over the coming years.”
Luke Forgione, Sports Performance and Athlete Development Coordinator at Barnsley College, added: “These opportunities do not come along often, we are very fortunate that Stocksbridge Park Steels have allowed us to be an official partner and we look forward to a long and mutually-beneficial partnership.
“Our students now have their foot in the door with Stocksbridge Park Steels, they just have to show they are capable of performing at the level required.”
Barnsley Sports Academy offers fantastic facilities and a team of expert and specialist coaches supporting talented sports performers in any discipline. Academies include Football (male and female), Rugby, Netball, Basketball, Refereeing and Individual Athlete Academy.
