AoC Sport targeting the most inactive students in colleges
AoC Sport is delighted to present the Impact Report for 2018/19, highlighting our key work this year on behalf of colleges and students.
We would like to thank colleges, staff and our partners for their support, helping to cement our place as the lead organisation for college sport and physical activity.
The 28-page report outlines some of our best work with Sport England and The FA as well as case studies from students and colleges and images from the National Championships, cup and play-off finals.
The key highlights from the report:
- Delivering the British Active Students Survey, the first nationwide survey of FE students’ activity levels
- Launching the AoC Sport Leadership Academy to support colleges to enhance and develop volunteering programmes for their students
- Smashing the FA female football participation target by 188%
- Encouraging Ofsted to recognise the wider benefits of sport and physical activity in the Education Inspection Framework for 2019/20
Marcus Kingwell, AoC Sport Managing Director, said:“It has been a successful year on many fronts for AoC Sport, with increasing opportunities for sport and physical activity in colleges.
“There are some exciting developments in the sector including new physical activity programmes, futsal and the AoC Sport Leadership Academy, and we look forward to capitalising on these over the next 12 months.”
This year we have arranged the sections according to our five strategic objectives:
- To lead the development of sport and physical activity in 16+ education
- To engage students and help them develop an active habit for life
- To be the leading organisation in the delivery of sports competitions
- To have the highest standards of governance and management
- To be self-sustaining with diverse income streams
These are all focused on improving the education, employability and health of students.
Cassell Bailey, Head of Children and Young People at Sport England, said:
“We are delighted that our investment into AoC Sport over the 2018-19 academic year has made such a significant contribution towards our vision set out in ‘Towards an Active Nation’.
“The programme has engaged with the audiences at the heart of Sport England’s strategic priorities, and has supported our aim to increase the number of children and young people who have a positive attitude towards sport and physical activity.”
