Boost your career prospects with a Childcare course
Barnsley College’s (@barnsleycollege) Childcare and Teacher Training department are launching a brand-new course in January 2022 for those who wish to further their knowledge and awareness of children and young people’s mental health.
The Level 2 Certificate in Children and Young People’s mental health is available to anybody aged 19 or above who has an interest in developing their understanding of the mental health problems commonly associated with young people; the impact of mental ill-health on children; and the support available to maintain mental wellbeing in the community.
The course is delivered over 10 weeks with students attending classes to broaden their awareness of children and young people’s mental health through a variety of mandatory units including factors which may affect an individual’s mental health and how best to support young people with mental health concerns.
Assessed through a portfolio of evidence obtained through written assessments, presentations and group work, students will gain a deeper understanding of the lives of children and young people and will also have the opportunity complete other study programmes such as the Level 2 Certificate in Safeguarding and Prevent.
The College also offers Level 3 courses in Childcare and Education Professions which students can progress onto including Supporting Teaching and Learning and the pioneering new Childcare T Level (technical qualification), which is the equivalent to three A Levels, providing students with the ideal platform to progress into skilled employment or Higher Education.
Childcare and Teacher Training at Barnsley College are also offering a pre-access to Higher Education course, designed for those who wish to progress onto Higher Education but didn’t quite get the grades at school. This course sees students attend college twice-weekly to gain the skills required to study subjects in the childcare or health sector at university-level.
