Ariel Parrucci named new Basketball Academy coach
Barnsley Sports Academy has teamed up with professional basketball coach, Ariel Parrucci, to develop its Basketball Academy.
Ariel has developed his playing and coaching career at all levels in Argentina, Italy and the United Kingdom. Throughout the last 10 years in the UK, Ariel has established and led community basketball programmes for the Sheffield United Community Foundation; coached several junior and senior national league teams in Sheffield, and professionally in the British Basketball League with the Sheffield Sharks; and currently is the Head Coach at Sheffield Hallam University Men’s Basketball Club.
Ariel said: “I want to help Barnsley College to develop a basketball programme that increases participation and promotes development and performance pathways for all students. I’m passionate about creating development opportunities for young people to further progress and achieve their potential and I hope the Basketball Academy will help to positively impact many students’ lives in the years to come.
“The Basketball Academy will provide students at Barnsley College with the knowledge, experience, and opportunity to support their athletic development. Furthermore, enriching their experience during their studies and supporting the student to achieve academic and sporting excellence.”
Luke Forgione, Performance and Athlete Development Co-ordinator at the College, added: “We are extremely pleased that Ariel has agreed to work with us. His knowledge and expertise, as well as contacts in the UK and overseas, will create opportunities for our students who will be able to gain valuable experience and learn from his knowledge of the professional game, while gaining match day experience and regular support through College games.”
Barnsley Sports Academy offers fantastic facilities and a team of expert and specialist coaches supporting talented sports performers in any discipline. Academies include Football, Esports, Rugby, Netball, Basketball, Refereeing and Individual Athlete Academy.
