PHX Training supporting Barrow mum Ashleigh’s nursing ambition
A mum from Barrow is targeting a new career to fulfil her ambition to apply for her dream role as an NHS nurse.
Ashleigh Whiteside, 27 from central Barrow, has been working with training provider PHX Training to achieve the qualifications needed to start her nursing qualification.
Ashleigh, who has two children, lost her job in a care home during the pandemic and was referred to PHX Training to help her back into work.
She has now been working with coaches at PHX Training’s Barrow office on Rawlinson Street since November to complete training qualifications to improve her skills and help her become more employable.
Having completed a qualification in business administration with PHX Training last year, Ashleigh is now finishing an accredited course in customer service, with a view to starting her level one maths qualification shortly which will allow her to complete a further qualification to become a professional nurse.
Ashleigh said: “My experience with PHX has been positive and motivational. I am keen to complete qualifications to help me back into employment. I know that I will need to gain my functional skills in maths to do this and PHX will be helping me with advice, guidance and training to support my goals.
“The staff are very helpful in the centre and I look forward to having their support to gain further qualifications and ultimately my dream job. They have also been flexible to meet my childcare needs and this has really helped me.”
PHX can support participants like Ashleigh with careers advice, job support and training opportunities aimed at finding quality, permanent employment.
PHX Training has training centres in Barrow, Carlisle, Morecambe, Preston and Blackpool to help people complete training courses to help them back into work.
PHX Training delivers government-backed initiatives including adult skills – Maths, English and vocational courses, NEET (not in education, employment or training) and employability contracts.
