Digital route review- first six apprenticeships launching (April 2021)
The apprenticeships in question and arrangements are as follow
Cyber Security Technologist (2021), ST1021
This is a new product and will launch on 30 April with a funding band of £18,000.
It replaces cyber security technologist ST0124 which will continue to run until 30 July to allow the sector to adjust in a timely fashion.
Where an employer wishes to move an apprentice to the new apprenticeship, they should discuss how this is to be done with their training provider and ESFA contacts.
End-point assessment organisations (EPAOs) and training providers wishing to deliver this apprenticeship will need to register with the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) in the usual manner.
Information Communications Technician, ST0973
This is a new product and will launch on 30 April with a funding band of £15,000.
It replaces infrastructure technician ST0125 and unified communications technician ST0130 which will continue to run until 30 July to allow the sector to adjust in a timely fashion.
Where an employer wishes to move an apprentice to the new apprenticeship they should discuss how this is to be done with their training provider and ESFA contacts.
EPAOs and providers wishing to deliver this apprenticeship will need to register with ESFA in the usual manner.
Network Engineer, ST0127, £17,000
Data Analyst, ST0118, £15,000
Software Developer, ST0116, £18,000
Business Analyst, ST0117, £18,000
The above products have been revised and will replace V1 with V1.1. Each has retained its original funding band.
The content of V1.1 has been available to view on the Institute website since summer 2019 to help the sector prepare for transition.
In discussion with the trailblazer groups and recognition of the length of time elapsed between initial planned launch date (January 2021) and the present date, the Institute has agreed to accelerate the speed of launch from 56 days to 30 days from today’s date, the new launch date being 1 June.
Where an employer wishes to move an apprentice to the new version of an apprenticeship they should discuss how this is to be done with their provider and ESFA contacts.
EPAOs and providers who are already registered to deliver V1 will be able to deliver V1.1 without re-registering with ESFA.
New EPAOs and training providers will need to follow the ESFA process before commencing delivery.
Remaining apprenticeships under the digital route review

Software development technician, ST0128
Digital technology solutions professional, ST0119
Software tester product is fully available to view on the preview pages.
The revised end point assessment for software development technician is due to be published on the preview pages in the coming weeks.
We are awaiting funding quotes for software tester and software development technician and so those apprenticeships are awaiting further action until those quotes are received.
The trailblazer continues to work on revising the digital technology solutions professional standard and EPA but are holding off submitting their work to the Institute until the outcomes of the degree apprenticeship consultation are known.
