College Hall of Fame welcomes Britain’s Got Talent winner Jai McDowall

Yesterday, Thursday 9 December 2021] Jai McDowall was inducted into the College Hall of Fame during College Development Network’s (CDN) annual College Awards ceremony.

The College Hall of Fame highlights and recognises the outstanding contribution that college graduates and staff make to society and the economy; and demonstrates the variety of pathways to success from college.

A graduate of Ayrshire College, Jai won the fifth season of Britain’s Got Talent, capturing the hearts of a nation with his powerhouse vocals, natural charm, and versatile song interpretations.

Jai continues to support his former college and its students. Earlier this year Ayrshire College released the charity single ‘Don’t forget who you are’, written by one of their students to highlight student mental health as part of their award-winning Passing Positivity work. Jai gave up his time to record the single.

Jai made his West End debut in The Pirate Queen at The London Coliseum and toured the country with Susan Boyle in her Ten Tour, as well as being on the road with G4 frontman Jonathan Ansell in the UK-wide tour of Les Musicals.

As a solo artist, Jai has headlined a Scottish tour and has had many sold out dates across the UK. He has become a fixture of the UK Panto scene, playing Prince Charming at many prestigious venues.

Jai McDowall said:

‘It’s a complete honour to receive this award, and to be inducted into the College Hall of Fame. It’s been an absolute pleasure to reconnect with the college as part of the Passing Positivity campaign.’

Jim Metcalfe, Chief Executive of CDN, said:

‘Jai’s dedication, sheer hard work and success is an inspiration, and we are delighted to extend our congratulations to him on being the latest inductee into the CDN College Hall of Fame.’
