Scottish colleges wary of new immigration laws
The UK Government’s new immigration laws risk excluding international students from Scotland, the country’s association of colleges has warned following new proposals on visas.
John Henderson, chief executive of Scotland Colleges, warned: “Currently there are almost 6,000 non EU/UK students in our colleges from 117 countries and the UK Government’s plans pose a real risk in reducing these numbers in the months and years to come.”
Iain Davidson MP, chairman of the Scottish Affairs committee, argues that overseas students contribute an estimated at £0.5 billion to the Scottish economy.
