From education to employment

NHC appoints one of UK’s youngest assistant principals

North Hertfordshire College (NHC) has announced the appointment of Gordon Barr, the college’s former director of Sports, Travel and Public Services Academy, as assistant principal of FE.

At 29-years-old, Mr Barr is one of the UK’s youngest FE college assistant principals.

“Being lucky enough to have had people help me develop my sporting skills then my potential in education, this appointment is both gratifying and challenging,” he said.

NHC has also appointed David Pitcher, former director of its Community and Health Services Academy, as assistant principal of the college’s Academy of Creative and Cultural Industries.

According to Mr Pitcher, a key element of his role will be to liaise with the recently launched National Academy for Creative and Cultural Skills (NSA).

“The further development of commercial operations that support student experience and give real working practise and potential for employment will be my key focus for the new academic year,” he said.
