G4S joins Trailblazers scheme
Security services firm G4S has joined the government’s Apprenticeship Trailblazers initiative to help develop new industry-specific skills.
The move will address the disconnect between those who have risen through the ranks in security-related jobs and those who have transferred in from management positions in other industries, according to Donna Allan, learning and development manager at G4S Secure Solutions.
“What is needed is a new style of Apprenticeship that is robust enough to provide the skills and qualifications required to succeed in the security industry,” she said.
“That’s why G4S was keen to get involved in phase 3 of this initiative and work to develop a series of Apprenticeships that will meet these criteria, whether it’s for young people who want to have the core skills in place before they achieve their [Security Industry Authority] licences or people further on in their careers who want to deepen their understanding of security as they transfer in from other industries.”
