Cambridge Regional College offers new online Environmental Sustainability course

Yorkshire Learning Providers in partnership with Craven College and York and North Yorkshire
LEP have developed a Green Skills & Sustainable Development AMBITION to aid FE & Skills
providers in their response to sustainable development for learners & employers and to
provide an opportunity to work together to support the implementation of a greener
curriculum and economy by adopting environmental, circular and sustainability practices as part of their strategic, operational and curriculum development.

The AMBITION will be supported by a dedicated webpage, a padlet full of resources & case
studies and a running total & promo of the organisations who sign up & commit. Don’t delay, sign up to our GSD AMBITION TODAY!

Craven College are delighted to sign up to the Sustainability AMBITION of the West and North Yorkshire Learning Provider Network. We are committed to playing our part in making the planet a more sustainable environment for all.
Sustainability is the green thread within our curriculum, our campuses and our College community. We recognise the impact that we have and commit to this exciting ambition to collaborate for the betterment of our local, regional, national and global environment.

Lindsay Johnson, Principal Craven College

Developing education and skills to align with our ambition for York & North Yorkshire to become England’s first carbon negative region will be fundamental to achieving success. This ambition presents huge opportunity for our future workforce who, with the right skills, will be able to find employment in higher paid jobs as part of a greener, fairer and stronger economy.

Working together we can evoke a transformative shift in skills ensuring that learners and apprentices are enabled to fulfil their potential within a carbon negative economy. The Green Skills & Sustainable Development AMBITION calls to us to work collaboratively across the skills sector,  learning from each other and sharing a collective commitment for a sustainable and prosperous future.

Sam Alexander, Chair of the York & North Yorkshire LEP Skills and Employability Board:

The development of this AMBITION has been in the works for many months in partnership with Craven College & YNY LEP and I am excited to officially launch the Green & Sustainability Ambition for FE & Skills providers across
Yorkshire. I am very passionate about this agenda and in ensuring all training organisations have the knowledge, resource & dedication to develop a green curriculum and support the race to net zero as institutions & for the learners & employers across the region. All training organisations regardless of sector, level, type or region have a responsibility to respond to this agenda and I hope this Ambition will support them on their journey as well as provide ongoing support, tracking & showcasing of the activities & developments in this area.

Alex Miles, MD, WNYLP
