Fife College students select EATS Rosyth as 2020-21 charity
@FifeCollege Students’ Association (FCSA) has picked EATS Rosyth as the main charity their fundraising efforts will benefit for the 2020/21 academic year.
A poll of students at the College saw the local community project come out on top, meaning they will receive 50% of all FCSA fundraising profits for the next twelve months, in addition to having their logo printed on the kits of the College’s sports teams.
The rest of the fundraising profits will be shared out amongst the charity that finished runner-up, Blood Bikes Scotland, and two third place finishers, Pass It On Peeps and the Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity.
All four charities will also have their work publicised through the Student Association’s social media platforms and on advertising within the College.
The poll took place online after students, staff, and the general public were asked to nominate charities that they felt should benefit from the funds, with over twenty charities going forward to the vote.
Fife College Students Association President of Welfare and Equality Jade Burnett commented:
“I want to thank all of the students who took part in nominating and voting for these charities.
“There were a lot of great causes to choose from, but I’m really pleased that EATS Rosyth came out on top – they do a lot of great work providing food in the community, and helping to improve food education locally.
“They’re a really deserving cause, and along with the other charities who finished in the runners-up positions, we’re looking forward to raising awareness of their work and helping raise funds for them.
“Obviously the current restrictions mean that we’re not able to run events in the same way we’ve used to, but we’re determined to not let that effect our fundraising efforts.
“We’ll be working harder than ever to raise money and I know our whole student body will support us in our efforts
EATS Rosyth was set-up in 2015 with the aim to grow and share food, reduce food waste, help the environment and improve food education.
Food Project Manager at EATS Rosyth, Karen Dorrat, thanked Fife College’s students for the support for their work.
“We want to thank all of the Fife College students who voted for us as their chosen charity.
“We know there were a lot of different causes that they could have supported, so it’s great that they’ve chosen to back a local organisation.
“All the money that we receive helps us do the work that we do, and these funds will be vital in helping us to continue supporting the local community.”
