Hats off at Ascot for Kensington and Chelsea College students

Joining forces with young creatives from the College, Longines briefed students to create a bespoke hat for a friend of the brand, Linnea Aarflot.

With help from esteemed milliner Rachel Trevor Morgan, the students took their inspiration from the Longines slogan ‘Elegance is an Attitude’ along with Linnea’s personal style, to create a beautiful piece for her to wear at Royal Ascot.

The final piece was judged by Rachel Trevor Morgan on technical ability, Longines for elegance and Linnea for the overall style and fit. Choosing her dress to match the hat for an event as prestigious as Royal Ascot was a real privilege for the students. Many of them hope to have their own clients for the event in years to come.

Linnea Aarflot said: “I can’t wait to see what the students have created and to build my look around the chosen hat. We talked a lot about my style, inspirations and likes for the project, so I have high hopes.’

Johanna Wästle, an award-winning Millinery student at Kensington and Chelsea College, said: “I think my biggest achievement was to get involved in this competition to make a hat for horse dressage for a luxury watch brand. My hat won and was worn by Linnéa Aarflot at Royal Ascot”

The collection of unique hats produced by the students, was displayed on Longines social media as well as in the Longines private box at Royal Ascot.
