From education to employment

Teacher is the most desirable job in the UK right now!

Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library

A recent survey from CV-Library, the UK’s leading independent job site, has revealed that over half (54.5%) of the nation’s professionals are unhappy in their current role.

As such, the job board compiled a list of some of the most popular jobs across the nation. Respondents were then asked to vote for which job they’d like to have if there were no restrictions (e.g qualifications).

The results revealed that the most desirable jobs in the UK right now are:

  1. Teacher – 18.3%
  2. Designer – 17.1%
  3. Office Manager – 16.8%
  4. IT Technician – 15%
  5. Accountant – 12.8%
  6. Athlete – 12.5%
  7. Mechanical Engineer – 12.3%
  8. Recruiter – 11.7%
  9. Brand Manager – 10.9%
  10. Journalist – 10.7%

Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library comments: “It’s great to see that being a teacher came top of the list given the ongoing staff shortages in the industry right now. It’s also great to see that some of the more traditional occupations such as accountant, technician and recruiter made the list.

“With the introduction of new technologies and the ever-growing popularity of freelance work, it can often feel like some of the key professions such as education are being disregarded with many workers opting for online roles, such as brand manager, instead.”

Despite over a third (37.1%) of education professionals confessing that they’d be more likely to take a job that had the word ‘manager’ in the title, over half (54.8%) agreed that having fun at work and enjoying your job is more important than your salary.

Biggins concludes: “It’s good to see that job satisfaction is the key contributor to many education professionals. In today’s uncertain economy, it can be all too easy to focus on money and making a living; but we spend a great deal of our time at work so it’s important that we enjoy what we do.

If you’re looking for your next education role, there are plenty of exciting opportunities available in the sector right now. So why not secure yourself a new job just in time for summer!”
