The Parent Perspective Podcast: Amazing Apprenticeships and Not Going To Uni to launch podcast for parents and carers struggling to provide career advice

A new collaboration between @AmazingAppsUK and @NotGoingToUni, two leading early careers organisations, will tackle the challenges parents and carers are currently facing in trying to support their children with career advice and guidance.

The Parent Perspective Podcast will provide a space for listeners to explore which careers are available today and to be inspired by the many organisations and trusted experts working with young people in the U.K.

Conor Cotton, Commercial Director, Not Going To Uni, said:

‘The Parent Perspective’ podcast will build a community of engaged parents and carers, offering practical solutions so they can support more informed career decisions with greater confidence. Each episode will feature parents in conversation, share the lived experiences of diverse role models, and provide real-time insights into how the world of work is changing. The first season will launch during the summer term, hosted and produced by early careers specialist Steve Keith who was involved in the launch of the UK’s first parentaship in 2017.

The last 12 months have been especially hard for parents, many of whom have had to adapt to both working from home and home-schooling their children. At the same time, many young people have voiced their concerns over how the pandemic has already affected their career prospects, and how relying on their parents for support has become even more important to them.

“Through our work with parents and carers across the country, we have been seeing a marked increase in concerns about which opportunities are available and how young people can be supported to access them. This podcast will provide parents and carers with free access to impartial, expert advice on exciting topics such as technological advances and the emergence of new sectors such as green jobs. It will instil hope, positivity and a much-needed insight into what our futures might look like.”
