Blyth is a non-faith secondary school for 11 to 16 year olds. We are extremely proud to be part of NET, one of the highest performing trusts in the country, with trust GCSE results above 70% and 50% English and maths 4+ and 5+ cross respectively. We were graded as ‘good’ by Ofsted during our inspection in 2020 and continue to strive for excellence in every aspect of our work.

We have an exemplary reputation for creating calm and orderly high cultures, based on very high expectations of our students. We expect our students to achieve well and enter an exceptionally high amount of our students for the ambitious and aspirant Ebacc pathway.

We provide a very strong pastoral team to support our students, with an internal Bridge to support the most vulnerable with mental health or SEND difficulties; an attendance officer, education welfare officer and safeguarding and wellbeing officer; 5 non-teaching learning managers to remove barriers to learning and lead year groups to academic success; and are excited to pilot a new inclusion centre to offer first day provision for students who have not met expectations, a KS3 turnaround provision for those needing a half term alternative programme and a KS4 alternative curriculum provision for those students needing a full-term alternative to mainstream. The team is led by a vice principal, assistant principal (SEND-Co and DSL) and a non-teaching inclusion co-ordinator and they are supported by an inclusion administrator.
