We are looking for competent industry experts to join us as assessment writers and editors for our Wall & Floor Tiling qualifications with immediate effect.

Further detail on these elements, including sample assessments, can be found in the qualification specification on Qualifications | Skills for Wales

This examiner role gives you the opportunity to work alongside your current job, to build additional income with competitive daily rates, and to continue to develop your own skills and development.

The Task Profile outlines the expectations of the Writer/Editor examiner role, and the Person Specification outlines the experience we’re looking for someone to have as an examiner..

For more information please see the Task Profile / Person Specification

The assessments within the Wall & Floor Tiling qualifications are mainly Multiple Choice exams with occasional work on practical assignment tasks.

We are looking for examiners to help write and edit Multiple-Choice questions (MCQ) initially, with ongoing maintenance of the examinations and assignments required when needed.

A one-day MCQ writing and editing training course will be held in October. Following successful completion of the training, work would be commissioned in the following weeks. Editing is expecting to take place in October/November. During this period you would need to be available to attend an all-day editing meeting – it is sometime possible for these to be split across two evenings where there is a lack of day-time availability on the paper writing committee (if this would be applicable to your situation, please mention this in your application).

These meetings would be planned in advance.

Maintenance work may be required as and when on an ongoing basis.

Applications will be reviewed on an on-going basis between now and 2026, suitable applicants will be invited to attend training.

When completing your application, it is essential you read the person specification fully, and map your application to show where you meet the requirements set out. Please note applications that do not demonstrate meeting the person specification may be declined or delayed. We look forward to receiving your application.

We believe that diversity and inclusion strengthen and enriches us, and that it is the responsibility of everyone at the City & Guilds Group to drive this value. We work hard to be inclusive in our approach to recruitment and associate opportunities, whilst still ensuring we meet our regulatory requirements.
