Grimsby Institute welcomes extension of Chinese partnership with journalism degree

A Lincolnshire college has extended its international partnership with the Chinese by introducing a new journalism degree to be studied in England and China.

The Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education has welcomed students enrolling on their unique “2+2” course, which offers two years of training in the far-east giant, followed by the remaining two years in Grimsby. They have collaborated with one of the largest state-run institutions for training teachers in China, the Zhengzhou Teachers College.

Director of International Development at Grimsby, Charles Cao Quin, was effusive about the new scheme: “It is fantastic to have our visitors here. We are proud to show them our town and the excellent award winning facilities we have here at the Grimsby Institute”.

“We hope that the relationship we enjoy with our friends at the Zhengzhou Teachers College will continue to progress and that the cultural exchanges between our countries will be beneficial to us all and to our communities”, he added.

Celebrating the development and extension of partnership between the two countries, Grimsby hosted a delegation from China to showcase the facilities they have to offer, before taking in a tour of the Institute’s campus and a visit to the country’s most famous landmarks.

Daniel Khan, Principal at the college, noted: “We”re very pleased with how the partnership with the Zhengzhou Teachers College has progressed. Part of our education in life is to absorb new cultures and embrace diversity”.

“These are things that help communities grow. We hope that our relationship with education establishments across the world continues and that we can become a real centre for international growth and cultural exchange”, he added.
