In 2018 we went through a major development to celebrate our 15 th anniversary, where we developed two job-boards with a single dashboard: One was FE Careers for your Learning and Development staff and the other was for Apprenticeship vacancies on Apprenticeship Job Search to support our existing Learning and Development clients in fulfilling their own roles.

FE Careers and FE News are a part of Chimeara Limited. FE News is the largest digital news site dedicated to FE, Apprenticeships and Employability. FE Careers, FE News, Apprenticeship Job Search and Training Noticeboard are all members of the Chimeara family. Chimeara established FE Careers and FE News back in 2003 to address the current and future needs of the learning and development sector.

Chimeara Limited is a social enterprise established back in 2000 to support social mobility and address the Apprenticeship and Skills needs of the UK. 10% of Chimeara’s profit goes to charity and we constantly re-invest to help enable our social mission become a reality for learners, communities, employers and providers every single day.

In 2017 and 2018 Apprenticeship starts had fallen through the floor (down 40%!), but on the plus side and mainly due to the Apprenticeship Levy there was a huge growth in Apprenticeship opportunities for levels 5, 6 and level 7 (level 6 are Degree Apprenticeships and Level 7 were Masters level Apprenticeships).

When we launched FE News and FE Careers in 2003 it was to provide a voice for vocational, technical and work based learning. For many years we have also been campaigning for the highly regarded Meister Apprenticeship style system to be implemented in the UK.

FE News and FE Careers have been supporting the FE sector for over 15 years, but when the Apprenticeship starts began to suffer serious decline, particularly for 16-24 year old Apprentices and with SME’s – we decided it was time to develop a radically new concept, to give additional support to the Work Based Learning sector, Apprentices and employers.
