Overview
The Prevent Duty guidance (June 2015) refers to the importance of Prevent awareness training to equip staff to identify learners at risk of being drawn into terrorism and to develop confidence in challenging extremist views.
This webinar explores the context of the Prevent Duty within education, including clear and concise guidance around the ‘due regard’ to the duty.
Objectives
This webinar will focus on the following areas:
- National Strategy – CONTEST;
- Reality of the current threat;
- Identifying indicators of radicalisation including influential factors;
- National ideological context;
- Implementing the legal due regard for preventing terrorism;
- Understanding how and when to make a referral;
- Developing resiliency with learners through British Values.

The content of this webinar is ideal for all those who have regular contact with young people and/or vulnerable adults in post 16 education and training provision whether as part of an executive team, senior management, curriculum and department leads or directly involved in teaching and training with a responsibility for the management and leadership of safeguarding including designated safeguarding officers (DSOs).
