Paintings and Drawings: A Retrospective
November 2 @ 10:00 am – November 29 @ 4:00 pm
An artist who captures both the ordinary and the extraordinary in her paintings and drawings is exhibiting her work with the support of the University of Chester.
Ann Reeve’s work is on display at the Contemporary Art Space Chester (CASC), Castlefield Gallery New Art Spaces, Unit 14, in the Grosvenor Shopping Centre, Chester, from now until November 29.
In life classes Ann developed the idea of drawing the studio environment as well as the model. While Ann has recently been attending Chester Life Drawing sessions at the University of Chester’s Creative Campus Kingsway, her links with the University go back further, including in 2013, holding the exhibition, Life Room, with CASC at the Kingsway Creative Campus at the University of Chester.
Her new, free, exhibition, Paintings and Drawings: A Retrospective, often draws attention to the ordinary. That ordinary is sometimes disturbed however by the extraordinary and the viewer is made aware of the potential for those two states to co-exist.
Featuring everything from city scenes and traffic jams to elephants and farm animals, the exhibition is open from 10am to 4pm, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Ann, a Chester-based artist, attended Lincoln Art School and has joined drawing classes in London, York and Chester, before attending sessions at the Creative Campus Kingsway.
In 2000, Ann exhibited a painting in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and between 2018 and 2019 she was Artist in Residence at the Holy Ascension Church, Upton-by-Chester.
