Cambridge Regional College, Form the Future CIC and Greater Cambridge Partnership are working together to deliver a series of careers fairs aimed at increasing opportunities for all.

The Apprenticeship Jobs and Careers Fairs have been planned to coincide with National Careers Week and will take place between 4pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday 9th March at the Cambridge Campus and Thursday 10th March at the Huntingdon Campus, with Cambridge also offering a Primary Careers Fair.

The Primary Careers Fair is aimed at engaging with primary school children, aged 9 – 11, to broaden their horizons and raise aspirations from an early age. Whereas the Apprenticeship Jobs & Careers Fair is aimed at school leavers and adult job seekers who are looking for employment, apprenticeships, or voluntary opportunities with local employers.

Anne Bailey, CEO of Form the Future said: “We’re particularly excited to be running this event for primary students, giving them experience of the world of work and opening their eyes to a wide range of possible future careers. It’s not about deciding what they want to do for a career now – far from it – but rather it’s about getting them excited about what might be possible in the future.”

Employers from across the region have been invited to exhibit and more than 40 organisations have been confirmed as attending, including Sky Revolutions Ltd, Visiting Angels Cambridgeshire, Magdalene, Clearly Education LTD, Labcorp, City Security Services, Harvey Road Day Nursery, Caremark, and many more looking to recruit their latest team members.

Mo Horan, Director of Employer Engagement at Cambridge Regional College said, “This is an exciting opportunity for us to bring employers from across the region together under one roof to promote their organisation, and opportunities for apprenticeships and careers. This will not only benefit our partners in securing the best candidates for their roles, but it will support individuals seeking employment, whether that be as first steps onto the career ladder, a change of career or career progression. The aim is to build on these events each year to deliver the largest annual apprenticeship jobs and careers fair in the region.”

About Greater Cambridge Partnership Apprenticeships

The Greater Cambridge Partnership (GCP) has launched a new service to get more people into apprenticeships.

The GCP has partnered with Form the Future CIC and Cambridge Regional College to launch the new service, which will link prospective apprentices and businesses to boost the number of apprenticeships across Greater Cambridge.

The GCP is committed to increasing the number of apprenticeships across Greater Cambridge by at least 400 and wants businesses to bring in more to help attract and develop highly skilled staff.

The new service will see Form the Future and Cambridge Regional College develop a hub service to both inform and support apprentices and help businesses identify how best to introduce apprenticeships.
