Pupils on final countdown to bring coming-of-age stage musical to life
It’s a coming-of-age stage musical, and students at The Hart School have begun the final countdown to bringing it to life.
Based on the Charles Dickens’ classic tale of love, loss and betrayal, excitement is now setting in for students at the Rugeley school as they put final touches to their whole school production of Oliver which will run from July 5-8.
With tickets open to the local community, as well as parents, family and friends, audiences can look forward to enjoying a host of classics from this award-winning musical, including Consider Yourself, Food Glorious Food and I’d Do Anything, performed live by the Creative Education Trust’s talented pupils.
The production will be the first at the school in three years due to the pandemic.
“Great buzz of excitement” across the school ahead of performance
Principal Ms Rachael Sandham said: “There is now a great buzz of excitement across all year groups as our pupils countdown to their eagerly-anticipated performance of Oliver, which will be our first production since the summer of 2019.
“Our whole school productions create lifelong friendships and memories for our students that really celebrate what can be achieved through hard work, determination, resilience, and working together as a team while still allowing individual talents to shine through to their skill set.”
She added: “I would like to take this opportunity to say a huge well done to all of students for their hard work and commitment in putting on this production.”
Not only will pupils, who have been supported by the school’s Performing Arts department as well as Musical Theatre International, perform on stage, they will also be involved with stage management, lighting, sound, marketing and front of house roles.
Spilt into two acts, tickets for Oliver are available via Parent Pay from the school’s box office, from the school’s reception, between 10am and 3pm, or on the door on the night if not already sold out.
