Learning opportunities starting in 2023 at your local college
@BordersCollege is offering four new courses for anyone looking for a career change or who is a winter school leaver.
For those looking to branch out into the world of Cyber Security, the ‘Pathfinder in Cyber Security’ course is the ideal opportunity to allow candidates to gain an understanding of Data Security, Digital Forensics and Ethical Hacking, along with other vital employability skills.
The ‘Introduction to Engineering’ course is open to applicants who wish to pursue a career in mechanical or electrical engineering. It offers an insight into various areas of both mechanical and electrical engineering, including basic welding, electrical, electronics, motor vehicle mechanics and bench fitting skills.
The ‘Hairdressing Multi-Skill’ course offers the opportunity to work within a realistic salon environment to learn and develop both the skills and knowledge in all aspects of hairdressing. Students will learn a wide range of hairdressing techniques, gaining practical experience along the way.
Choosing the right course can sometimes be challenging. The ‘Find your Vibe @ Borders College’ course will assist young people aged 16-20, who are unsure of what direction of learning or employment they would like to take. This course is based on opportunity, choice and experience. Students will have the chance to sample vocational areas that they may not have previously considered, while also the developing confidence and motivation to take steps towards further study or employment.
Students who complete and meet the minimum entry requirements will be able to progress onto other courses from Borders College.
The courses, starting in mid-January, are available to apply for now, with attendance varying from 2 to 3 days, depending on the course. All courses take place at the Scottish Borders Campus in Galashiels.
