Stephen Studd resigns as SkillsActive CEO
Stephen Studd announced yesterday that he is to stand down as chief executive of SkillsActive after more than 16 years in the sector.
Studd, who established SkillsActive as the Sector Skills Council for Active Leisure and Learning in 2003, believes that it is time for someone new to lead the organisation.
“We have gone to considerable effort to restructure SkillsActive as a group and strengthen our engagement with employers and key stakeholders. I believe this new structure leaves SkillsActive in a stronger position to tackle the challenges and opportunities ahead,” he said.
“Now is the right time for me, on a personal level, to step aside and allow new leadership to take the organisation forward.”
Chair of the SkillsActive Board, Elaine Clowes, acknowledged his “fundamental contribution” to the organisation, and said: “Under Stephen’s direction SkillsActive has created a whole new standards-led approach to qualifications and training in the industry. We would like to thank Stephen for all he has helped SkillsActive achieve and wish him all the very best for the future.”
Suki Kalirai, who has been SkillsActive Board director for the last two years, will lead the senior team, until a new appointment has been made.
