City & Guilds praises Scottish electrical lecturer performance

Electrical lecturer Denis MacKintosh has been recognised by awarding body City & Guilds for his outstanding performance in the delivery of education and training to students at Inverness College UHI.

The Scottish college itself was also praised by City & Guilds for the overall quality of its education provision.

Angus Macleod, head of Inverness College UHI’s school of construction and forestry, said: “I am delighted that our Electrical team and Denis have been recognised for the work undertaken on behalf of City & Guilds with whom the college has had an association for half a century.

“I also acknowledge the continuing dedication of staff teams in supporting the construction industry, particularly in these difficult economic times and I urge employers to continue to invest in modern apprenticeship training.”

MacKintosh, who was presented with a certificate from City & Guilds, commented: “I am very proud of the fact that the college has been recognised by City & Guilds in this way. I enjoy being part of a team that continues to raise quality standards in the education and training of those who have chosen a career in building and construction.”

Inverness College UHI principal John Spencer said: “This is a fine example of the good work carried out by staff at Inverness College UHI and I am pleased that Denis MacKintosh has been commended in this way.

“As Convenor of the Principals’ Convention for Scotland’s Colleges, it is also a tribute to the work carried out by colleges in Scotland across the full range of Further and Higher Education activity.”
