IfL confirms concessionary rate for increased threshold

Part-time FE staff whose salary is below the recently increased personal allowance threshold of £7,475 will be entitled to pay IfL’s concessionary membership fee, the professional body has confirmed.

In yesterday’s Budget, the chancellor George Osborne confirmed the personal allowance for part-time teachers and trainers will be increased by £1,000 to £7,475.

Staff earning less than this new threshold will be eligible for the £45 rate, compared with the standard fee of £68, even if they have already renewed their membership at the standard rate.

“IfL is updating its communications for all members who have not yet renewed their IfL membership, as well as for new teachers or trainers joining IfL as their professional body,” said IfL’s chief executive, Toni Fazaeli.
