Axiell gains Book Industry Communication e4libraries accreditation

Axiell (formerly DS), the market leader in UK public libraries and archives and part of the Axiell Library Group AB, has been awarded the Book Industry Communication (BIC) e4libraries accreditation, one of the first library systems suppliers to achieve this recognition.

The e4libraries accreditation scheme enables organisations to demonstrate their commitment to electronic trading and other beneficial library technology. Beneficial technology chiefly comprises full-cycle EDI or other forms of e-trading with stock suppliers, but is often supplemented by implementation of RFID systems.

Full details about the accreditation scheme can be found at www.bic.org.uk/e4libraries.

Jim Burton, MD with Axiell in the UK, is delighted that the company has been recognised for its work in this area, “Our application for accreditation successfully demonstrated to an independent BIC review group that we are committed to developing software that meets the project aims to improve the efficiency of the library supply chain through the application of technology and commitment to standards. We fully support those aims and the service improvements that they ultimately deliver to libraries and their customers.”

Axiell has long supported the e4libraries aim of increasing the use of e-commerce transactions through its electronic solutions for Bibliographic Services functions – including loading catalogue records, managing the Acquisitions process and interfacing with Financial Systems. The EDI facility with the Galaxy and OpenGalaxy Library Management Systems has been available for over 15 years and Axiell customers have successfully demonstrated that using EDI to streamline the Acquisitions Process can providing significant savings in the cost of putting an item on the Library shelf.

Axiell also provide a fully standards-based RFID solution for use with any LMS. www.axiell.co.uk
