Social justice charity Nacro and PET-Xi improve life chances of hard to reach 16-19 year olds

Social justice charity and further education provider, @Nacro – dedicated to changing lives – has awarded Coventry-based PET-Xi Training (@PetxiTraining) a contract to deliver highly interactive on-line English and maths tutorials to learners aged 16-19 years that have struggled at school and face complex barriers to achieving qualifications and improving their life chances. The personalised study programme designed for those who need support in English and maths in order to succeed at Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2 qualifications in Functional Skills or relevant GCSEs, will provide young people with the skills they need to move into further education, training or employment. The programme will be rolled out across Nacro’s 13 education and skills centres based in the North and South of England.

PET-Xi Training was awarded the contract by Nacro – funded by the 16-19 Tuition Fund 2020/2021 – on account of its proven track record and impact in delivering catch-up type provision especially in English and maths  and its ability to engage client groups that are NEET or disadvantaged. Its in-depth understanding and experience of safeguarding for all learners, inclusive of those identified as vulnerable when using digital platforms, sealed the deal.

The programme will be delivered via easily accessible and compatible video conferencing/virtual learning platforms along with  interactive digital resources aligned with AQA 8300 GCSE Mathematics, AQA 8700 GCSE English Language, City & Guilds Functional Skills English and City & Guilds Functional Skills Maths. It will commence with 1 hour taster sessions followed by 540 one hour sessions spread across a 12 week period.
