@BarnsleyCollege students are sending colourful messages of festive cheer to elderly residents at Autumn House Nursing Home in Worsbrough.

The Level 1 Health and Social Care students hope to spread a little joy and laughter by creating hand-made cards with festive celebration messages, eager to bring a smile to those who may be unable to see their family members this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions.

Nichola Crossland, a Health and Social Care student, said:

“The residents may not be able to see family or friends and will be lonely this Christmas. I enjoyed making my card knowing that it may bring someone some happiness and make them feel loved.”

Danielle Robinson, Health, Science and Social Care tutor, added:

“Our aim is to let the residents know that although they have had a very lonely and isolated year, they have not been forgotten about. We hope that by making these cards, we can spread a little Christmas joy, and cheer up some residents by letting them know that our College community cares for them and is thinking about them at this difficult time.”
