Basingstoke College of Technology scoops two awards
Basingstoke College of Technology (@BCoT) is celebrating after being recognised in two separate awards this weekfor helping to improve young peoples’ lives and excelling in barbering education.
The first award was received from Hampshire County Council’s ‘Hampshire Education Awards’, and given to Lynsey Spillane who won in the category of ‘Improving Life Chances’. These awards are designed to celebrate nominees who make a real difference to the life opportunities of children and young people.
The second award was for Mike Taylor Education including the BCoT Academy who won ‘Best training 2020’ at the national Modern Barber Awards, which is the industry’s only dedicated awards.
Principal of BCoT, Anthony Bravo, said: “We work really hard to provide the best education and support for our learners so that they can reach their potential, whatever course they come to study with us. I am so proud of the achievements of our staff and students at BCoT and it’s wonderful to receive these awards in recognition of all their hard work and dedication, particularly after this very challenging year.”
Course Director for Specialist Provision, Lynsey Spillane, said: “It is an honour to receive this award and is testament to the fantastic support team we have here at BCoT. I am pleased to have been recognised for having a positive impact on the lives of our students and ensuring they receive the support they really need in order to reach their potential and succeed in their education and future destinations.”
Course Director, Caroline Pharo, added: “We are delighted to be a sector of Mike Taylor Education which has been recognised for providing the best barbering training in these competitive industry awards. We are lucky to have fantastic facilities here at BCoT which enables our students to learn in a realistic environment and are taught by industry experts as part of the MTE team. This is a really lovely way to end the year.”
