Industry-recognised vehicle maintenance and repair-based courses will be available from February/spring 2021.
Mark Pemberton, Curriculum Manager for Automotive at the college said:
“We have a fully-formed course portfolio supporting trainee and experienced technicians, for whom it’s becoming mandatory to develop this area expertise.
“Our provision has a firm focus on the relevant technical skills of this industry’s workforce and their growing commitment to sustainability.
“The college is uniquely placed to support businesses as they work towards a transition of services involving electric/hybrid vehicle servicing and maintenance, as well as any modifications further along the line.”
The college’s automotive lecturers, trainers and assessors have upskilled and gained knowledge of electric/hybrid systems to support students, apprentices and work-based learners.
The college’s bespoke workshops feature state-of the-art hybrid vehicles and diagnostic equipment. In partnership with e-learning vehicle and systems technologies provider, Electude, college staff and learners will also have full exposure to a variety of plug in, diagnostic tools and equipment.
Catherine Treanor, UK Business Development Manager at Electude said:
“We are extremely pleased to be partnering with Walsall College; an educational leader in automotive.
“Our e-learning and training vehicles will support students to gain a greater understanding of the inner workings of vehicles, supported by interactive animations and simulations. Lecturers can better support their students in the classroom by monitoring results and teaching from a distance.
We hope that our work together will showcase a fantastic college and the talented students within it.”
