Industry-standard technology labs ready for students

Barking & Dagenham College

Industry standard engineering and robotics training labs have been installed at The East London Institute of Technology, Barking & Dagenham College (@BarkingCollege).

The labs contain high-end equipment to give students hands-on training in advanced engineering and robotics.

The East London Institute of Technology officially came into being in March when the Department for Education signed the deal with Barking & Dagenham College and its four anchor partners: Coventry University (CU), Huawei, Saint Gobain and TfL.

Partnering with Didactic Services, experts in educational technology equipment, the College has completed 3 labs: a Mechatronics & Industry 4.0 Lab, a Fluid Power lab and an Electric Power Technology lab.

Babak Jahanbani Managing Director of Didactic Services Ltd says:

“The availability of a well-educated and skilled workforce is becoming ever more important. This is a key factor in ensuring that the manufacturing sector in the UK becomes more competitive and grows. This is even more important and relevant in the current climate and can only happen if learners have the right knowledge.

“East London Institute of Technology students will have the privilege of training with the latest technologies as the UK invests in home grown talent. The new advanced manufacturing cover application and technology of mechatronics through to Flexible Manufacturing Systems and the latest Industry 4.0 technologies. It also <![if !vml]><![endif]>covers Renewable Energies and Process Automation. This is a unique and comprehensive set up in the country.”

Jason Turton Assistant Principal at the East London Institute of Technology adds:

“We are so excited that this equipment is installed and ready for students to use. We were teaching students using a variety of online simulation tools during lockdown so it’s amazing to use the real thing now.

With this hands-on access to the latest industry training equipment, students will be equipped with the high-level skills required by modern businesses.”
