Lights, camera, action! College unveils new TV and production studios
Barking & Dagenham College @BarkingCollege has opened its doors to new purpose built, industry standard studios.
The studios are part of the East London Institute of Technology. The project was the creation of the College and media content producers and training providers, Toasted Productions and its team of industry professionals.
The impressive facilities now include a working television studio with five cameras and a gallery, a green screen, two broadcast video edit suites, a powerful, dedicated audio edit suite and the Foley Room which houses lots of high-quality recording equipment for voices and sound effects. There are also cameras and equipment available so students can do location and outside broadcasts.
Every part of the huge 270m2 studios and the equipment it contains have been designed to meet the needs of the training that the students will receive. It means students will be learning using the same equipment that industry professionals use on a day to day basis and for everything from TV programmes to promos, music albums and even record 360 video.
Simon Marsland from Toasted explains:
“Thanks to these new facilities, students will be using real industry equipment and gaining industry standard skills. From production, editing and post-production to delivering finished programmes. This set-up is incredible for an higher education college and is a real boost to the area. The blend of kit and training can help students start a journey into meaningful, fulfilling careers. We were delighted to be involved from consultancy to commission and are looking forward to seeing what the students can produce.”
