Learning Curve Group; Top 30 in the Top 100 apprenticeship employers in England
Learning Curve Group (@_LearningCurve) is proud to be named in the top 30 of the top 100 apprenticeship employers in England, having demonstrated the benefits of applying the apprenticeship levy to support business growth.
The national training and education provider created the ‘Purple People Academy’ to house all of its CPD, including the effective use of its contribution to the Government’s levy scheme, helping to develop focused career paths for its workforce.
Based at DurhamGate, Spennymoor, the national training provider employs in excess of 450 staff and 500 associates across it’s head office and 12 centres in the UK. LCG provides free, fully funded online courses to individuals looking to upskill or reskill. They saw over 20k expressions of interest in just 10 days during lockdown for these courses as those spending their whole days at home were looking for something to keep their mind active.
They have access to over £30m of adult skills funding, giving them a unique position in the training and education landscape, supporting over 100,000 individuals per year increase their knowledge and achieve their aspirations.
Following the launch of the Purple People Academy in 2018, which was a significant investment for the business, it has gone from strength to strength and currently invests in approx. 50 staff who themselves are working towards apprenticeship programmes, ranging from business admin, customer service, IT, leadership and management.
LCG has high ambitions and a strategic growth plan to allow them to continually expand and almost double in size by 2025, which will create opportunity for jobs both within South Durham and nationally.

Learning Curve Group offers a wide range of courses for employers looking to increase the skills of their employees. Through a range of delivery models including dedicated online platforms, accessible from any location, and 121 teaching with tutors; they ensure the learner’s needs are at the centre of everything they do – giving them as big a chance for success as possible. It has also become a primary source of support and information for businesses accessing the Apprenticeship Levy.
