Supplier of learning solutions to Army in move to raise quality

A leading supplier of training solutions to the Ministry of Defence has teamed up with the British Learning Association (BLA) in a bid to improve standards and drive up quality.

Aviation Training International Limited (ATIL) yesterday signed up for the BLA’s prestigious and widely renowned “Quality Mark”; a mark designed to drive quality improvement “in the development, provision and use of learning solutions across all sectors”.

Head of Training Operations at ATIL, Mike Crabbe, said: “The recent changes to the BLA Quality Mark and discussions with Lance Spraggons, the Quality Forum Chairman has convinced me that in order to achieve the “Quality Mark”, ATIL would need to develop processes and procedures that are transferable to the commercial training market”.

The “Quality Mark” establishes a common set of quality indicators for all aspects of learning resource provision, delivery and use to give confidence to purchasers and learners.

“What I really like about the BLA Quality Mark is that it has a basis in a well regarded business model and recognises that we have to provide a high standard of training delivery but also survive in a competitive environment”, Mr Crabbe continued. “Completing the submission looks to be straightforward and the support offered by the BLA has been first class. As I complete the submission I am re-evaluating the processes we use for our current contract and revising some of the working practices”.

And Lance Spraggons, Chair of the Quality Forum added: “I would like to welcome Aviation Training International (ATIL) as the latest organisation to register for the new BLA Quality Mark. They are one of eight organisations currently working towards the Quality Mark”.

“Since we re-launched in November 2005, we have been working behind the scenes to enhance the product even further and the latest offering is a new category Providing Learning Solutions, and ATIL are one of the first to register for it. We firmly believe that this new category will be welcomed by many of our members as one that more accurately reflects the services that they offer. We shall be supporting ATIL through the process”.
