Position: Functional Skills Trainer
Salary: £25,000 – £28,000
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Functional Skills Trainer to join our team in Coventry. In this role, you will empower adult learners (aged 19+) to achieve their educational and career goals by delivering engaging and impactful Functional Skills qualifications, ranging from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. By providing learners with the skills they need to succeed in the workplace, you’ll play a key role in helping them secure sustainable employment.
This position is based in our clients Coventry office, Staff parking is available on site.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct initial and diagnostic assessments to develop tailored learning plans for each learner
Deliver high-quality and engaging Functional Skills training, meeting the needs of diverse ability groups (Entry Level 1 to Level 2)
Monitor and assess learner progress, providing guidance and adapting teaching methods as necessary to ensure success
Offer career advice and progression guidance to help learners achieve their long-term goals
Develop and customise engaging teaching materials to keep learners motivated
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all relevant quality standards and funding documentation
Collaborate with team members to contribute to the continuous improvement of training delivery
What You Bring:
A recognised teaching qualification (CTLLS, PTLLS, AET, PGCE)
Experience delivering Functional Skills and/or vocational qualifications within an adult learning environment
Ideally Awarding Body or Exam Coordination experience
Strong organisational and time management skills
Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with the capacity to inspire and motivate learners
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint)
Understanding of the local labour market and educational needs of adult learners
