Supporting Learners Who Are at Risk of Sexual Violence or Harassment

Overview

This one-hour awareness-raising webinar will provide delegates with a comprehensive overview of safeguarding learners at risk of or affected by sexual violence and harassment (child-on-child abuse). It will also emphasise creating a culture of openness to help professionals identify, respond to, report, and record incidents of sexual violence and harassment.

Objectives

This webinar will:

  • Raise awareness of sexual violence and sexual harassment and discuss experiences of learners both online and offline;
  • Explain the definitions of sexual harassment and sexual violence, including online sexual abuse and intimate image abuse;
  • Support staff to recognise the early indicators of sexual violence and sexual harassment;
  • Review the prevalence of what constitutes as harmful sexual behaviour and unsafe or exploitative relationships;
  • Explain how to create a culture of safety, to support learners to share concerns;
  • Help delegates to respond effectively to concerns;
  • Explain how to implement a robust recording and referral mechanisms;
  • Explore key considerations for developing an effective sexual harassment policy, including legal obligations, best practices, and strategies for fostering a robust safeguarding culture.
