Hackney Council’s integrated Employment, Skills and Adult Learning Service is seeking to recruit a 0.5 part time ESOL tutor to join the curriculum team. This is an exciting opportunity to join our hard working and successful team to provide a high-quality provision of teaching to our learners and residents.

The role includes planning, delivery, assessment, and review, providing educational advice and guidance (IAG); alongside course development.

The successful candidate will be responsible for course preparation, marking and evaluation of learners’ work, assessment /examination preparation and feedback. You will be expected to deliver courses in person across a flexible timetable for classes during both day and evening hours and across different sites, to both beginners and those seeking qualifications.

Tutors should have experience of online delivery and/or blended learning and should hold at least a Level 5 Teaching qualification plus relevant subject specialisms. Experience of teaching ESOL is essential and experience of teaching within a Family Learning context is desirable. It would be an advantage to have experience of working with learners from low levels of English as well as those who have a good command of English.

You will need to demonstrate the ability to teach to meet a variety of learning styles and support learners with diverse needs as well as a commitment to your own professional development.

The successful applicant will be self-motivated, organised and have the ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide range of people. A positive attitude is essential, as is a willingness to work flexibly and to be creative.

This is an exciting time to join the team as we develop provision to meet the emerging skills needs of disadvantaged learners and families, working closely with colleagues in Employment & Skills to play a key part in achieving transformative outcomes for Hackney residents.
