UK Premiere of Anthony Hopkins” Latest Movie sees Welsh FE Students Hosting Launch
“
In an announcement sure to bring satisfaction to the hearts of all in Further Education, the UK Premiere of a new Anthony Hopkins film is to be promoted by business FE students from the Coleg Llandrillo Cymru.
The premiere will take place at a local cinema complex in North Wales, and is set to take place in March 2006. A month before this, business students will have the opportunity to host the UK Premiere of “The Worlds Fastest Indian” – directed by Roger Donaldson – at the Llandudno Junction Cineworld complex. The event is expected to be the site of a celebrity convergence.
The Students” Big Night
The students hatched the idea as a part of their BND Business and Welsh Baccalaureate courses. This innovative idea was motivated by their desire to do something original to raise money for their chosen charity, which in this case is the Variety Club Gold Hearts Appeal. The scheme is designed to facilitate an entry into the real world of commerce, being an ideal way to support the charity as well as being a useful means for developing and demonstrating their business acumen.
The event is being sponsored by companies such as Asda, HMV and WH Smith. The project coordinator, Toby Rastin, said: “This is an amazing opportunity that we have been given by Cineworld and we are determined to make it a night to remember. All the students are working like mad to make this star-studded event a roaring success. The evening will start with a “Red Carpet & Fizz” reception and patrons will receive a souvenir programme, a goody bag and a red rose for the ladies.”
The Inspirational Tale
The story of the movie is the tale of New Zealander Burt Munro, who risked everything at age 68, including his life, building a 1920 motorcycle. The bike helped him to set the land-speed world record at Utahs Bonneville Salt Flats in 1967, against all the odds. Mr. Hopkins describes the film as “one of the most wonderful, most enjoyable movies I have made.”
Mr. Hopkins recognises the importance of having a strong will and the ability to take risks to reap rewards. Speaking of his work in the film, he said: “I enjoyed it because it was such an outdoor, open air movie and he is a character with a sunny disposition. It was fun being on a motorbike”¦I think that Burt was scared but he just thought…to hell with it, we are going to die one day so I might as well take my chances. I think that spirit is just great.”
The college students have clearly taken this message to heart, and have taken advantage of this opportunity.
