Future Talent in the Spotlight for CEL for Second Year Running

The Centre for Excellence in Leadership (CEL) will be holding the “Building Future Talent” forum for the second year running, on 9th February 2006.

The event, to be staged in London, will gather leading figures from the learning and skills sector, such as governors, principals, chief executives and HR managers. The event will give the opportunity for sector leaders to present and talk about the strategy, launched in October, and to try to shape the direction it takes.

The forum will be considering two new initiatives being introduced by the CEL – these are the, “Routes to Success” and Gateway of Leadership Development (GOLD) strategies. There will be a chance for feedback from those within the learning and skills sector to give their views.

Real Progress Made

Conrad Benefield, of the Building Future Talent team explained: “We have made real progress in developing and implementing the strategy. In the light of valuable feedback from the sector, we revised and re-launched our strategy in October and are at an exciting stage in its implementation, with the “Routes to Success” and “GOLD” programmes about to start and our first annual surveys of leadership in the sector just under way.”

She continued: “The forum in February is a timely opportunity for senior managers to hear about and comment on these developments, and to hear first hand from some of those starting on the new programmes. I also hope that those attending will be able to identify ways in which CEL can support their own organisations in planning effectively for succession and in developing and managing their own talent.”
