Live discussion to ease student worries about moving

Further Education students planning on moving out from their parental homes will be given the chance to air their queries in a live webchat this afternoon.
Simon Ayers, a CORGI spokesperson, will join in a debate hosted by Webchats, today between 3pm to 3.30pm, to alleviate student fears about moving away from home for the first time.
A statement released earlier this week said: “Term-time has come around again and for many young people it is the beginning of the next fun and adventurous chapter of their lives. Going into further education can mean making new friends and discovering a new town, but there are many other hurdles in front of you that you may never have considered; paying household bills and the challenge of living away from your parents for the first time”.
“Do you know what questions you should be your asking landlord about the property? What would you do if they had an electrical, gas or ventilation problem? And most importantly, would you know of whom to call – your parents, other students, or more worryingly, a potential cowboy tradesman from a card in a phone box?”
A large proportion of students will live in rented accommodation, and the purpose of the debate is to ensure that they have all contingency plans in place before anything can go wrong.
“Are you adequately concerned over your safety? What are the top safety tips that you should take onboard?”
