Kirklees College seeks to appoint new Governors
Kirklees College is seeking commercially astute individuals who can make a difference to the lives of its students by joining the board of governors.
As we are one of the biggest colleges in the country and boast over 13,000 students, our board of governors is pivotal to supporting the needs of the organisation and helping to provide a high-quality learning experience as our students progress successfully into further training, employment or Higher Education.
Our new governors will bring a range of skills to complement the existing membership. Candidates must be assertive, empathetic and possess integrity, to provide support and assurance in difficult situations. They should share the college’s passion for education and be willing to commit a minimum of 8 hours per month to support its mission. This is an exciting time to join the college as it moves forward into 2020.
Kirklees College boasts a diverse mix of students from different backgrounds, ethnicities and heritages, and, we, therefore welcome interest from all communities.
The role is voluntary but reasonable expenses are paid and there are excellent opportunities for professional development and networking. Governing body meetings are held at various college campuses on Friday afternoons at 3 pm, approximately every two months.
Advice and training on charity trustee duties and responsibilities and general support for governors are provided by an independent professional clerk.
