Kirklees College Jingle Mingle Event Kicks off Christmas

The festivities of the event were further enhanced by the presence of the local school choir from Lowerhouses Infant and Junior School, who are part of the Huddersfield Town Foundation. The children serenaded everyone with a mix of old and new Christmas carols, including some that required audience participation. Guests were entertained by songs such as ‘Starry Night’, ‘Where’s Rudolph’ ‘Mince Pies’ and ‘Hosanna Rock.’

All members of the school choir received a special Christmas present, all of which were kindly donated by the guests.  

The event was held in Landings 72, Kirklees College’s very own in-house restaurant and all attendees were served by the hospitality and catering students. Guests were treated to a delicious traditional Christmas Turkey lunch followed by coffee and mince pies.

The fund-raising raffle raised a significant amount of money for the Town Foundation. Prizes included a Christmas hamper, Huddersfield monopoly set and 2 match tickets which were provided by Huddersfield Town and Kirklees College.

Kirklees College Vice Principal of Corporate Operations, Mark Bennington opened the event and thanked everyone for such a good turnout, particularly the spectacular Christmas jumpers on display.

Huddersfield Town’s Senior Commercial Manager for Hospitality, Tracy Nelson, commented: ‘It was great to see a number of local businesses, sponsors and box holders come together for our special Jingle Mingle event.

These are always great ways for business people to get to know each other more and to network in a more informal, Christmassy setting.

Alongside this, I am very proud we could use our business network to help the local community. The gifts put smiles on the youngsters’ faces, who sung enthusiastically. I’d like to thank Kirklees College and the Town Foundation for bringing Lowerhouses CE (VC) JI & EY School to the event.”
