NPTC Group of Colleges at WorldSkills

Apprentices and students from @NPTCGroup have been battling it out with the best from across the UK to win top honours at this year’s at WorldSkills UK Live

The competition which is held at the NEC in Birmingham sees more than 500 apprentices and students compete in over 70 disciplines to be crowned the best in the UK in a vocational pathway.

Taking part in the competition equips young people with the world-class skills needed to help British businesses better compete globally.

Those taking part in the competitions were also hoping to secure the opportunity to represent the UK at the WorldSkills Finals in Shanghai in 2021.

Competing for top honours from NPTC Group of Colleges were:

Curtis Rees – Welding – Gold; Patricia Mckeown – Inclusive Skills: Health & Social Care – Silver; Zack Evans – Web Design – Silver; Elle Pitts –Forensic Science – ‘Highly Commended; former student Paris Williams – Forensic Science – Bronze.; Josh Jones – Automotive Refinishing.

Edward Jones, Skills Ambassador at NPTC Group of Colleges said: “We are delighted with the achievements of our students. This has been a fantastic experience for them to showcase their skills and compete at such a high level. They have gone through the regional finals to get to this level of competition and it will serve them well for the future. Not only will it look good on their CVs when applying for jobs, but it demonstrates the skills set and talent they have that will equip them for their chosen career paths.”

Ben Blackledge, Deputy CEO of WorldSkills UK, said: “This is a life-changing moment for these young people. They have already won regional competitions and now their National Finals – they are the new generation of high flyers that will give UK employers a competitive edge.

“We couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of them – the standard of competition could not have been higher.”
