From education to employment

Standards Setting Body Appoint Sharon Forton and Look to the Future

ENTO Direct, a privately run organisation and independent sister company to ENTO, committed to developing the competence of people in the workplace, has announced the appointment of Sharon Forton as the new Chief Executive.

The acronym is drawn from its original title, Employment National Training Organisation, when they formed a part of a network of NTOs established by the now ““ reapportioned Department for Education and Employment in 1997. When the NTOs were dissolved to be replaced by the Sector Skills Councils (SSCs), ENTO elected to establish itself as an independent Standard Setting Body working alongside the SSCs and other organizations in the drive for quality provision across their field of expertise.

Taking ENTO Into The Future

ENTO Direct was launched by the People Development Group UK and is a learning provider which offers both training and NVQ qualifications to organisations throughout the UK. ENTO Direct will initially cover Vocational Awards in Assessment and Verification and the Competence Award in Health and Safety Review. Further development of the brand ““ the task with which Sharon Forton has been charged ““ will include the provision of full NVQ’s in Learning and Development and Occupational Health and Safety.

Sharon has moved a short distance for the role from her previous post. Prior to joining ENTO Direct, she was part of the Derbyshire Chamber of Commerce and Business Link where she held the position of Deputy Chief Executive, overseeing the organisation’s training, quality and Human Resources functions. This has given her a keen awareness of the developmental challenges inherent in a workforce.

Within her brief at ENTO Direct, Sharon will be tasked with positioning the ENTO Direct brand in the market. She is also going to be responsible for the quality of the company’s products and services, such as the “Excellence in”¦” series of publications designed to benefit learners in assessing their requirements and working with the learners” network. She will also be working to build and maintain high level relationships and partnerships.

Outstanding Candidate Sought and Found

Sharon also offers a broad experience which affords her a better perspective when approaching the task at hand. With an extensive business background in both public and private sectors, and supported by a postgraduate qualification, Sharon is an experienced management professional, having held positions with a number of Boards and Partnerships ““ all of which should stand her in good stead in this position.

The Director of ENTO Direct, David Morgan, was delighted at the appointment and stressed the competitive field from which she had been drawn. “We were looking for a vastly experienced individual who could really drive this company in the competitive UK training sector,” he said, “and Sharon met and exceeded all of our requirements.”

Sharon will be working from the head offices of ENTO Direct in Leicester, and David Morgan looks forward to the development of the brand and the company in the months and years to come. “Sharon was an outstanding candidate with a considerably high level of experience in the training sector, and with a proven track record of business development ““ skills essential for building this company,” he said.
