TV’s Wayne Hemingway Urges You to Make Your Way to Exp05
“
Red or Dead designer Wayne Hemingway is encouraging young people to visit the Creative Zone at the Exp05 Skills Festival.
Working alongside landscape designers Broadway Malyan, he has created the project Vision For Skelmersdale Town Centre. The project is designed to regenerate Skelmersdale Town Centre and will be displayed at the festival.
Stop Watching, Start Acting!
Deeming the experience to be better than “watching Hollyoaks”, Hemingway believes that those with an interest in design and environment will benefit greatly from the event. Exhibits are set to range from DJ-ing, journalism and digital media to dance and furniture design. Exp05 will also reveal the involvement of Lancashire schools in the new conception for Skelmersdale Town Centre.
Further to the Creative and Media Zone, nine other zones are promised covering Business and IT, Health and Social Care, Engineering and Automotive, Tourism and much, much more.
Influencing Careers
The Chief Executive of the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) in Lancashire Steve Palmer, said that Exp04 was “a massive success with more than 82 percent of pupils saying that it had influenced their career choice”. Increased demand has led to the event being held for an extra day this year, including both years 10 and 11 so that fewer will be forced to miss out.
Pupils are urged to book quickly for the festival, which takes places at the Exhibition Centre at Myerscough College on 18, 19 and 20 October. The event is organized by the LSC in Lancashire and supported by the Local Authorities and Connexions Lancashire. Proving to be an invaluable resource for young people, 8,000 pupils have already booked on from 70 schools and organizations across Lancashire, but some places are still left!
